Zemen Bank’s pre-tax profit climbed to 9.97 billion birr in the 2025/26 financial year, while its assets expanded by 31.3 percent to 116 billion birr.

The bank disclosed the results at its annual shareholders’ meeting held on Monday, where it reported total income of 17.9 billion birr and net profit of 6.75 billion birr for the financial year. Zemen’s paid-up capital rose to 14.3 billion birr, while total capital reached 26 billion birr by the end of the financial year.

The increase in assets came as the bank expanded its balance sheet by more than 30 percent over the year. The bank said its performance across key financial indicators placed it among the stronger performers in the banking sector.

Enyie Bimer, chairwoman of Zemen Bank’s board of directors, said the 2018 financial year had delivered strong financial performance and sustained growth.

She said the bank would seek to sustain its growth through innovation, customer-focused services and value creation.

Dereje Zebene, the bank’s chief executive officer, said the bank’s paid-up capital had exceeded 14 billion birr, while total income reached 17.9 billion birr during the year.

The bank reported earnings per share of 53.9 percent. However, the figure was presented as a percentage in the information released by the bank, without clarifying whether it represented EPS growth or another measure.

Management attributed the year’s performance to the contribution of the bank’s employees, customers and partners.
