Initial U.S. proposals for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia reportedly address several of Kyiv’s key demands, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday.

Speaking in Kyiv, Zelenskyy cautioned that neither side is likely to secure all its objectives in the negotiations, which aim to resolve the nearly four-year conflict.

“In general, it appears to be quite robust at this point,” he said of discussions with U.S. officials seeking to broker mutual concessions. “There are certain aspects we may not be prepared for, and I am confident there are elements the Russians are also unprepared for.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has pushed for a peace deal for several months, but efforts have been complicated by sharply divergent positions from Moscow and Kyiv.

U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff described meetings in Florida with Ukrainian and European representatives as “productive and constructive” on Sunday, though Trump offered a more measured assessment the following day, stating only that “the talks are progressing.”
