The Wolkait Tegde Amhara Identity and Boundary Restoration Committee has filed a petition to challenge the temporary injunction issued by the Federal High Court to hold elections in disputed constituencies.

The committee announced that it has filed a petition through its lawyer to intervene in the Federal High Court, stating that the case pending in court between the applicant, the Democratic Alliance of Tigray Party, and the Ethiopian Election Board affects its rights and interests.

Accordingly, the court has set a date for February 25/2018 to consider the case and make a decision, sources close to the matter confirmed to the BBC.

The Election Board issued a decision on February 21/2025 to hold direct elections for House of Representatives candidates in five disputed constituencies between the two regions, outside Tigray and Amhara regions.

Following this, the Federal High Court on February 24, 2025, stayed the decision on a petition filed by the Democratic Alliance of Tigray (ADAT) Party led by Ato Getachew Reda.
