A small aircraft carrying skydivers has crashed near Butler Memorial Airport in the US state of Missouri, killing all 12 people on board, according to authorities.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on Sunday near Butler, a town about 60 miles south of Kansas City.

β€œAll occupants (12 total) have perished,” the agency said in a post on social media platform X.

Officials said the victims included 11 skydivers and the pilot. The aircraft went down close to the airport, with emergency responders dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident.

Authorities have not yet released details on what caused the crash, and investigations are ongoing.
