Nigerian Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has announced that the United States has revoked his visa and barred him from entering the country.

Nigerian Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, who called Trump a "white dictator", has his visa revoked

The 91-year-old author and 1986 Nobel Prize winner in Literature said he had requested his passport and visa be revoked after receiving new information that the US consulate had not disclosed.

Soyinka, in a press conference on Tuesday, described the letter he received from the embassy as a "love letter from the embassy" and said he had told the organization that was inviting him to the US "not to waste their time."

The US embassy in Nigeria, when contacted, said it did not comment on individual cases.

He recently compared Trump to the Ugandan dictator, calling him "Idi Amin in white face," a comment that may have contributed to the embassy's recent move.

In July, the US State Department announced changes to its non-immigrant visa policy for Nigerians and other African nationals.
