Protests against President Donald Trump's policies have erupted in cities across the United States.

Protesters have taken to the streets in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles.

The protest in New York City's iconic Times Square began Saturday morning and was attended by thousands of people.

Streets and subway stations were filled with protesters chanting slogans.

Among the slogans held by the protesters were "We want democracy, not monarchy" and "The constitution is not an option."

Before the march, Trump allies accused the protesters of having ties to the left-wing movement Antifa.

They also condemned it as an "anti-American rally."

The organizers of the protest, dubbed 'No Kings', stated on their website that the main principle was to hold a peaceful demonstration and urged participants to refrain from any possible harassment.

Some people participating in the New York rally chanted "This is what democracy is all about."
