The United States will issue a limited number of passports featuring President Donald Trump’s portrait as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in July, the White House has confirmed.

An administration official said the special passports will be available to citizens applying during the rollout period through the Washington Passport Agency. A State Department rendering shows Trump’s image alongside the American flag and his signature in gold.

A White House spokesperson said the design is intended to mark the semiquincentennial celebrations. The broader programme includes events such as a "Great American State Fair" and the "Freedom 250 Grand Prix."

The passport plan comes alongside other commemorative initiatives, including a proposed gold coin featuring Trump and a move to place his signature on US banknotes. In Washington, the Kennedy Center board has also voted to rename the institution the Trump-Kennedy Center.

Separately, a federal panel has given preliminary approval for a 250-foot “Arc de Trump” monument, despite opposition from preservation groups who cite concerns over historical site integrity.

The administration has also faced legal action over White House renovations, specifically the demolition of the East Wing for a new ballroom. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has filed a lawsuit over the lack of required approvals.
