The United States is set to close the year with 3 percent real GDP growth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on CBS’ Face the Nation, despite the extended government shutdown.

Bessent added that he expects inflation to “roll down strongly” in the coming year. He also highlighted a strong performance in the bond market, describing it as “the best year since 2020.”

In addition, the Treasury Department is engaging with major philanthropists to provide additional support to former President Donald Trump’s accounts. Bessent said further details would be announced in the coming weeks.
