US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated on Wednesday that US officials engaged in a "productive call" with European national security advisers and Ukraine's chief negotiator to deliberate on the subsequent steps aimed at concluding the war in Ukraine.

Witkoff mentioned that he participated alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, in discussions with Jonathan Powell from the UK, Emmanuel Bonne from France, Gunter Sautter from Germany, and Rustem Umerov from Ukraine.

"Our focus was on advancing the discussions in a practical manner on behalf of @POTUS’ peace initiative, which includes enhancing security guarantees and establishing effective deconfliction mechanisms to facilitate the end of the war and prevent its resurgence," Witkoff remarked on the US social media platform X.

He further noted that they shared perspectives on a prosperity package for Ukraine, as well as a collaborative roadmap for the nation's economic development and reconstruction.

"Numerous additional details were addressed, and we will persist in this vital work and coordination in the New Year," Witkoff concluded. On Sunday, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened in the US state of Florida to discuss the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Trump characterized the meeting as "wonderful," indicating that only a few obstacles remained on the road to a peace agreement.
