The US Congress has approved the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the financier accused of sex trafficking minors. The decision authorises the Department of Justice to make the files public.

The House of Representatives passed the resolution with 427 votes in favor and one against. The Senate later approved the measure without a formal vote, as no objections were raised.

The move follows President Donald Trump’s reversal of his earlier position, after which he called on Congress to release the documents. The decision comes amid pressure from Trump supporters who had criticised his prior stance on the issue.

Epstein died in 2019 in a New York City jail, reportedly by suicide while awaiting trial.
