The UN Security Council has imposed new sanctions on four Sudanese military leaders, including Mohamed Hamdan Daghloul.

The UN imposed the sanctions in response to the military leaders’ alleged crimes in El Fasher. The military took control of El Fasher in October, and the violence there has been described as the worst in Sudan’s three-year civil war.

Last week, a UN fact-finding mission said the violence in the city amounted to genocide.

Four members of the Rapid Response Force, including Hamdan Dagalo, have been sanctioned for their role in targeting and killings by el-Fasher, including mass killings.

In addition to Dagalo, Abu Lulu, known as the “El-Fasher Killer,” is among those sanctioned.

This is the fourth time that General Dagalo has been sanctioned. He has previously been sanctioned by the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

The United States and Britain have also imposed sanctions on three commanders.
