The United Nations Security Council has approved a US-backed resolution endorsing President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, including the creation of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) supported by contributions from several countries, the United States said.

Thirteen members, including the United Kingdom, France, and Somalia, voted in favour, while Russia and China abstained. No country opposed the resolution.

A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the adoption as “a significant step towards strengthening the ceasefire agreement.” Hamas, however, rejected the resolution, arguing that it failed to address Palestinian rights and aspirations.

In a statement on Telegram, Hamas said the plan would “impose an international guardianship on the Gaza Strip, which our people oppose.” The group added that it would “assign tasks and roles to international forces in the Gaza Strip, disarm the struggle, eliminate its neutrality, and make it part of the conflict supporting the occupation.”
