Ukraine’s Defence Forces have carried out a second strike on the Dubna Space Communications Centre in Russia’s Moscow region, targeting a facility Kyiv says supports Russian military operations against Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the operation, saying the site plays a role in satellite communications, intelligence activities and coordination of Russian forces operating in Ukraine.

The facility is located more than 500 kilometres from Ukraine’s state border, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The latest strike follows an earlier attack on the same centre and previous strikes against four similar Russian facilities in the Moscow and Vladimir regions.

Ukraine said damage from the June 22 strike was confirmed to the hardware and module complex of a 32-metre MARK-IV antenna used for satellite communications, as well as to a nearby technical building.

“We are systematically implementing our plan of long-range strikes and making it as difficult as possible for the aggressor state to conduct offensive operations against Ukraine and sustain the occupation of our territories,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that further operations targeting Russian military-related facilities were being prepared as part of Ukraine’s long-range strike campaign.
