UK-based beverage cooler manufacturer Frigoglass Group is betting on Egypt as a key growth market in the Middle East and North Africa, aiming to capture nearly a third of the country’s cooler market by 2028.

The company plans to produce 100,000 units locally over the next three years, moving away from its previous model of exporting from Romania. The shift follows a May partnership with local firm Fresh SAE to establish domestic production, enabling faster delivery and lower logistics costs.

Since January 2025, Frigoglass has supplied roughly 10,000 units to Egypt, marking the initial phase of market entry. Its clients in the country include global beverage giants Coca-Cola HBC, Heineken NV, and AB InBev SA.

Chief Executive Officer Serge Joris said urbanisation, rising disposable incomes, and changing consumer preferences for chilled beverages are expected to drive demand. The rapid expansion of modern retail chains across Egypt and the wider region is also supporting growth.

Industry projections highlight the opportunity: the MENA cold chain market is forecast to rise from 24.9 billion US dollars in 2025 to 41.1 billion US dollars by 2030, according to a June report by BCC Research LLC. By producing locally, Frigoglass aims to capture this growth efficiently while improving responsiveness to client needs.

“Egypt is a new market for Frigoglass and a strategic step to grow in the Middle East and North Africa,” Joris said. “Local manufacturing allows us to respond quickly to market demand and support our expansion strategy.”
