UAE Denounces Iranian Missile And Drone Attacks Across Region

The United Arab Emirates has condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as Tehran retaliated against US military targets following a fresh wave of American strikes on Iran.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as a “flagrant violation” of the sovereignty of the affected countries and a threat to their security and stability. It expressed full solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq, including the government of the Kurdistan Region, and backed measures aimed at safeguarding their security.

The attacks mark the most significant escalation between the US and Iran in more than a month, with Tehran extending its response beyond Iranian territory to countries hosting US military personnel and facilities.

The US Central Command said its latest strikes targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including air-defence systems, radar facilities, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications infrastructure. Iran subsequently launched missiles and drones towards US-linked positions in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and northern Iraq.

Jordan said its air defences intercepted 10 of 13 missiles fired towards the country, while a US official said there were no injuries or significant damage at Camp Titin, a US military site near the Gulf of Aqaba.

In Bahrain, Iranian forces said they targeted radar installations and parts of Sheikh Isa airbase, which hosts US forces. Bahrain issued alerts instructing residents to take shelter as its air-defence systems responded to the incoming attacks.

Kuwait also reported confronting Iranian missiles and drones. Its government said a drone strike caused a fire at a residential complex in Kuwait City, although no casualties were reported.

In Iraq, Iranian forces claimed to have targeted US facilities in the Kurdistan Region, while Kurdistan's Counter-Terrorism Directorate said it intercepted 10 explosive-laden drones around Erbil. A US official subsequently told Kurdistan24 that no casualties had been reported from the attack.

The escalation follows US strikes on Iranian military positions, including targets in southern Iran and around the Strait of Hormuz. Washington said the operation was aimed at Iranian military capabilities and followed attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to target US forces and commercial shipping in the strategic waterway.

The confrontation is also placing renewed pressure on the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy supplies. The latest fighting has pushed oil prices higher and raised concerns over further disruption to shipping and energy markets.

The UAE's statement places Abu Dhabi firmly behind the countries affected by the Iranian attacks as the US-Iran confrontation increasingly spills across the Gulf and into neighbouring states.
