A North Carolina woman and a Texas juvenile have been arrested and charged over an alleged conspiracy to carry out a vehicle attack targeting a Jewish congregation in Houston, according to court documents and law enforcement statements. The case centres on an alleged plan to “kill as many Jews as possible” by driving a vehicle into Congregation Beth Israel.

Authorities say the investigation was triggered after a tip to federal agents. Angelina Hicks, 18, was arrested in Davidson County, North Carolina, and is being held on a 10 million US dollars bond.

She faces charges including felony conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records. In a parallel case, a 16-year-old in Harris County has been charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder.

The Houston Police Department said the arrest was made with assistance from school police authorities. Federal investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigation said they opened the case after receiving information that Hicks was allegedly targeting members of the Jewish community.

The Charlotte field office described the inquiry as a fast-moving, multi-state investigation involving coordinated law enforcement action. Court documents indicate Hicks is also alleged to have coordinated with individuals identified as “Teegan” and “Angel,” though their full identities have not been confirmed.

Authorities said additional suspected co-conspirators have been identified outside North Carolina, but did not provide further details. Officials said there is no other known credible threat following the arrests.

Congregation Beth Israel, the oldest Jewish congregation in Texas, temporarily closed its facilities based on guidance from law enforcement, before reopening after authorities assessed the situation.
