A cargo plane skidded off the tarmac at Hong Kong International Airport on Monday, killing two crew members.

The Emirates flight, EK9788, was en route from Dubai to Hong Kong when it skidded off the tarmac and collided with an airport vehicle.

While the two people in the vehicle died, the four crew members on board survived the crash.

The incident is one of the worst aviation accidents in Hong Kong in years.

The city's international airport has a good safety record.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the error that occurred during the landing.

Airport officials said they gave the plane the correct instructions and that appropriate signs were in place to guide the aircraft.

In August 1999, a China Airlines passenger plane crashed during landing in a severe storm, killing three people.

This is the second major accident at the airport since it was relocated from its original location in July 1998.
