President Donald Trump has threatened legal action against the BBC over a documentary that drew criticism for its truncated delivery.

The president's legal team has given the BBC a deadline of Friday, November 14, 2025, to "fully and fairly" take down the documentary, warning of a $1 billion lawsuit if it fails to do so.

A leaked BBC internal memo shows that the media has combined two speeches Trump made on the same stage, at different times, when he lost the election nearly five years ago.

This was done in a way that made it seem like Trump had openly incited people to attack Capitol Hill, where the country's Congress is located.

Debrah Turns, the chief executive of BBC News, one of the executives who resigned after the scandal broke, defended the media, saying there was no "institutional bias".

BBC Director General Tim Davie has also resigned in connection with this.
