The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed his belief that Ethiopia and Egypt can reach an agreement regarding the Abay issue.

Trump made these remarks during a discussion with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where they were engaged in a bilateral dialogue.

The Abay dam is said to prevent the Nile River from flooding, and Trump indicated that both nations are eager to engage in negotiations to resolve their differences, as reported by a news correspondent.

"It is a dangerous situation. The dam constructed by Egypt is located on the route where water has been available for millions of years. Currently, the water supply has been disrupted due to a significant dam issue," they stated during their conversation with the media.

"I believe we must consider that making the dam a common concern is necessary. The dam poses a major problem. We will take appropriate action regarding this matter," Trump remarked.

Last week, Trump mentioned that he had no intention of initiating discussions between Cairo and Addis Ababa, indicating that he was aware of the ongoing tensions.

"You are a strong president," they said, referring to Trump, who was disturbed by the relationship with Egypt, as they work to strengthen their ties, as stated in their discussions, according to Fox News.

"I have heard that Ethiopia also has a strong leader. I am certain that I do not know you well, but you are indeed a strong individual. We will strive to reach an agreement by coordinating our efforts together."

The Ethiopian government has not provided any comments regarding the statement made by Trump at Davos up to this point.
