US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that he will not allow it to have a nuclear weapon and has warned the country to agree to curb its nuclear program.

In a speech to members of Congress, Trump said, “My preference is to resolve the problem diplomatically. But one thing is certain: I will not allow the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism to have a nuclear weapon.”

In his nearly two-hour State of the Union address, he said Iran wants to reach an agreement that will prevent further attacks on the United States.

However, he added that Iran has not made any agreement on building nuclear weapons.

The US has been deploying its largest warship in the Middle East, raising fears of a conflict with Iran.

In his speech today, Trump accused Iran of supporting militants and killing dissidents.

He also said that “the Iranian regime and its deadly allies have spread terror, death and hatred,” Reuter’s news agency reported.

The president mentioned possible action against Iran in his speech, but did not provide specifics.
