President Donald Trump announced that he is temporarily halting his initiative to send National Guard troops to Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon, a decision influenced by legal obstacles that have impeded the effort.

"We will return, possibly in a significantly different and more robust manner, when crime starts to escalate again It is merely a matter of time!" he stated in a social media update on Wednesday.

Typically, governors oversee the National Guardsmen of their respective states, and Trump had dispatched troops to all three cities despite opposition from state and local Democratic officials.

He argued that this action was essential as part of a larger strategy to address immigration, crime, and protests.

The president has prioritized a crackdown on urban crime as a key focus of his second term and has considered the possibility of invoking the Insurrection Act to prevent his adversaries from utilizing the judicial system to obstruct his initiatives.

He believes that his stringent approach to crime will serve as a favorable political topic in the lead-up to next year’s midterm elections.

Military personnel had departed from Los Angeles following the president's earlier deployment of them this year, which was part of a wider initiative to combat crime and immigration.
