US President Donald Trump has pledged to provide $1,776 million in "hero pay".

He announced that some of the money for the payments to 1.45 million US troops would come from tariffs.

In a televised address to the nation on Wednesday night, Trump said the "check has been issued" and that the payment would arrive by Christmas.

Trump listed his achievements on the economy and the economy, and was heard to harshly criticize Democrats.

The president, who delivered a strong speech, repeatedly said that America was on a better path.

Despite Trump's promise that prices would come down, data shows that Americans are unhappy with housing prices, baby supplies, and healthcare.

Trump, who spoke for 18 minutes, said the total cost of the "hero's pay" was $2.57 billion and would be divided "in the name of our country's founding year, 1776."

The president said the money came from tariffs and what he called a "big, beautiful bill."
