US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he had signed a bill that would require the release of all documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The bill would require the Justice Department to release all documents related to the Epstein investigation "in a searchable and downloadable format" within 30 days.

Trump had previously opposed the release of the documents, but he reversed his position last week under pressure from Epstein's victims and members of his Republican Party.

Following the president's new stance, the bill passed with near-unanimous support in both chambers of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, in a vote held on Tuesday.

In a post on his Twitter account, Trump criticized Democrats for making the issue an agenda. Democrats accused them of trying to distract the public from the Trump administration's achievements by raising the issue.

"Perhaps the truth about these Democrats and their ties to Jeffrey Epstein will soon be revealed, because I have signed a bill allowing the release of the Epstein documents," he wrote.
