US President Donald Trump has said he will not allow Benjamin Netanyahu to annex the occupied West Bank.
The US president, who gave his thoughts to reporters in the Oval Office ahead of the Israeli Prime Minister's address to the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, said: "I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank no way."
Trump, who will meet with Netanyahu on Monday, said a Gaza deal was "very close."
Israel is facing international pressure to end its war in Gaza and its occupation of the West Bank. Western governments are officially recognizing the Palestinian state.
Right-wing Israelis see annexation as an alternative way to stop this pressure.
Hardliner Israelis in Netanyahu's governing coalition have repeatedly called for the annexation of the West Bank, which is part of the Palestinian state.
The United Kingdom and Germany have warned Israel not to annex the area.
