President Donald Trump is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, as Washington aims to generate new momentum for a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in Gaza that risks stalling before a complex second phase.

Trump may utilize the in-person meeting at his Mar-a-Lago estate to capitalize on his strong rapport with Netanyahu and seek methods to accelerate the peace process, particularly as Israel’s leader faces criticism for not urging his side to act swiftly enough.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which Trump has supported, has largely been maintained, yet progress has recently decelerated.

Both parties accuse each other of breaches, and rifts have surfaced among the U.S., Israel, and Arab nations regarding the way forward.

The initial phase of the truce commenced in October, just days after the two-year anniversary of the first Hamas-led assault on Israel that resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities.

All but one of the 251 hostages taken during that time have been released, either alive or deceased.

Trump's 20-point strategy which received approval from the U.N. Security Council outlines an ambitious plan to terminate Hamas' governance in Gaza.
