On Sunday, President Donald Trump informed reporters that U.S. officials have concluded that Ukraine did not target a residence belonging to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a drone attack last week, countering the Kremlin's assertions that Trump had initially received with significant concern.

Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Ukraine had launched a series of drones at Putin’s state residence located in the northwestern Novgorod region, which the Russian defense systems successfully intercepted.

Lavrov further condemned Kyiv for executing the attack amidst crucial negotiations aimed at concluding the war.

This allegation emerged just one day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Florida for discussions with Trump regarding the U.S. administration’s developing 20-point plan designed to bring an end to the conflict. Zelenskyy promptly refuted the Kremlin's claim.

Trump stated that "an incident occurred in proximity to" Putin's residence; however, American officials did not determine that the Russian president's residence was the target.

"I do not believe that strike took place," Trump informed reporters while returning to Washington on Sunday after a two-week stay at his residence in Florida. "We do not believe that occurred, now that we have had the opportunity to verify."
