U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed he used blunt language in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he called the Israeli leader “crazy” during a tense exchange over ongoing fighting in Lebanon.

Speaking in an interview broadcast on Wednesday on the “Pod Force One” podcast, Trump acknowledged the remarks, saying he was “a little bit perturbed” by continued Israeli military activity in Lebanon.

Trump added that despite the disagreement, relations with Netanyahu remained strong. “I wouldn’t say angry. I was a little bit perturbed at his constantly fighting with Lebanon,” he said.

The comments come against the backdrop of continued regional tensions involving Israel, Lebanon and Iran-linked armed groups.

Trump also defended his administration’s broader approach to Iran, rejecting suggestions he was misled by Netanyahu regarding military action.
