Protests in Minnesota have turned deadly, claiming two lives amid escalating tensions over immigration issues. Former President and current U.S. President Donald Trump described the incidents as “terrible” during an interview with Fox News, emphasising the gravity of the situation.

At the state Capitol, 37-year-old Renae was shot by security personnel while attempting to enter the immigration office. Last week, the killing of Alex Preti had already sparked widespread public outrage, fuelling protests that have drawn condemnation across party lines.

In response, the Trump administration has directed federal and local authorities to take action. On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security in Minnesota announced security measures under border security chief Gregory Bovino, aimed at ensuring the safe departure of individuals from the state.

Trump’s border policies prompted collaboration between Tom Homan and Bovino, who arrived in Minnesota to oversee the response. Homan, alongside local officials including County Sheriff Jacob Frey and law enforcement agencies, shared updates on their discussions and security measures via social media.

The protests have highlighted rising tensions over immigration enforcement, prompting both federal and state authorities to act swiftly to restore order.
