The president expressed his concerns at a two-day meeting of Tigray's top leaders held last weekend.
Participants in the meeting accused the Ethiopian government of "intimidation" in response to constitutional demands from Tigray.
Speaking at a meeting attended by TPLF cadres and senior leaders, General Tadesse Werede said that political conditions have become complicated and that the clouds of war are looming.
"As we all know, the situation is complicated. There are visible clouds of war. There are large and small situations that are constantly changing. Meanwhile, the possibility of peace is not closed," he said.
The meeting, attended by the interim president of the Tigray Regional State Administration, General Tadesse Werede; his deputy Alem Gebrewahed; TPLF Secretary General Fetlework Gebreegziabhin; and the party’s chairman, Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael, accused the Ethiopian government of “intimidation” in response to constitutional demands from Tigray.
General Tadesse, who pointed out that the failure to implement the provisions of the Pretoria Agreement that ended the war is the root of the problems, said that serious problems have arisen regarding the internal unity of Tigray.
