The Tigray International Group of Scholars and Experts has sharply criticised the interim administration of Tigray, led by Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede, in a comprehensive assessment report released on Friday.

The 10-page report, compiled over eight months, argues that ten key initiatives pursued under the previous leadership of Ato Getachew Reda—designed to resolve the crisis and safeguard Tigray’s long-term interests—have been largely neglected under Lt. Gen. Tadesse’s administration, leaving the region exposed to heightened risks and the threat of renewed conflict.

The assessment evaluates ten critical areas, including the implementation of the Pretoria Agreement, the cessation of hostilities and establishment of sustainable peace, the formation of an inclusive cabinet, broad-based consultations, the reopening of relations with Eritrea, the security of Tigray forces and militias in Afar, and the state of the media environment.

The experts called on relevant stakeholders to ensure the interim administration is re-established on an inclusive basis and to guide the transition toward a legitimate government through free, fair, and transparent elections.
