Addis Ababa police have arrested three suspects wanted in connection with a murder case in the Nifas Silk-Lafto sub-city. The arrests followed coordinated surveillance involving federal and regional security forces.

The suspects — Yonatan Kedir, Deresse Hailu, and Abdela Bedir — are accused of killing Kirubel Kebede in Ward 14 near the Furi Condominium area on April 24, 2026.

Police said the suspects lured the victim by phone under the pretext of a job offer, then strangled him. They attempted to conceal the body by wrapping it in plaster and plastic and placing it in a suitcase before abandoning it near the Totari Condominium.

The suspects fled with the victim’s phone and vehicle, which later broke down. They sold the phone and went into hiding. The arrests followed intensive 24-hour investigations and tracking operations.

The Addis Ababa Police Commission thanked the National Intelligence and Security Service, Oromia Police, South Ethiopia Police, and the public for their support in the operation.

The case highlights the effectiveness of coordinated police efforts in solving serious crimes in the capital.
