The United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have officially recognized Palestine as a state.
Following Israel's two-year military campaign in Gaza, several countries are recognizing Palestine as a state.
Israel has strongly condemned the move, particularly by Western countries, as a reward for Hamas's attacks on it.
Canada, which has close ties with the UK, announced its decision earlier than the United Kingdom, and Australia followed suit by recognizing it.
The West, especially the members of the Group of Seven developed countries, of which the United States is a member, has been reluctant to recognize Palestine for various reasons.
Canada became the first country in this group to recognize Palestine.
Following Australia's decision, the United Kingdom, which had previously indicated its readiness to recognize the state, also announced its decision through its Prime Minister.
