Texas Man, 86, Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Child Sexual Abuse Material

An 86-year-old man in Texas has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas.

JC Herndon, of Atlanta, Texas, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 120 months in prison by US District Judge Robert W. Schroeder III on October 8, 2026, US Attorney Jay R. Combs announced.

Court records show that law enforcement officers searched Herndon’s residence on May 6, 2025, under a warrant executed by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Division.

Officers seized a mobile phone containing numerous photographs and videos depicting child sexual abuse, many involving prepubescent children. Herndon admitted to downloading and viewing the material on his phone.

Herndon was a registered sex offender and was on probation when authorities discovered the material, according to information presented in court.
