French engineering group Technip Energies has secured a major engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contract for the Coral Norte floating liquefied natural gas project offshore Mozambique, in a deal tied to more than €1 billion (about 1.14 billion US dollars) in revenue.

The award forms part of a broader development package executed alongside JGC Holdings Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries for Mozambique Rovuma Venture.

Once operational, Coral Norte is expected to deliver about 3.6 million tonnes of LNG annually. The addition of the project will raise total output from the Coral LNG hub to roughly 7 million tonnes per year.

Technip Energies said the contract supports accelerated deployment of floating LNG infrastructure and reinforces Mozambique’s expanding role in global energy supply chains.

The development builds on the earlier Coral South floating LNG project and is designed to monetise Mozambique’s offshore natural gas reserves.
