The Eastern Ethiopia Joint Security Task Force announced that 43 "leaders and members" of the Oromo Liberation Army group operating in Dire Dawa City Administration and Somali Region have been killed, while others have been "captured" and "surrendered."

It was also stated that the militant group's forces killed "two police officers" during their operation in the area, and that security forces "sacrificed their lives" during the operation.

Details regarding the action taken against the Oromo Liberation Army, which the government calls "Shene," were released in a statement by Commissioner Alemu Megra, the Commander-in-Chief of the Dire Dawa Police Department.

According to the police commissioner, members of the Oromo Liberation Front, who came from the neighboring Oromia region, "from West Hararge," entered the Dire Dawa city administration a month ago.

He also explained that the number of members of the militant group that moved into the city administration was estimated to be "between 70 and 80."

The militant group had a plan to "take control of the border areas of Oromia, Somali, and Dire Dawa, which are neighboring regions of eastern Ethiopia."
