Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of expensive jewels from the Louvre Museum in the French capital, French media reported, a week after the theft.

According to the newspaper Le Parisien, the two suspects are residents of Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris, and one was arrested as he was preparing to board a flight at Charles de Gaulle Airport.

A total of $102 million worth of jewelry was stolen in a matter of minutes in a robbery at one of the world's most visited museums.

The priceless jewels were stolen in broad daylight by four men who broke into the museum in Paris through a window on Sunday.

After the robbery, the French Ministry of Justice publicly admitted that the security system at the museum had "failed" to stop the robbery and had "damaged the image" of the country.

The thieves who stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry from the museum only stayed in the museum for four minutes.
