The Ministry of Education will stop student placements in the coming years, Minister Professor Berhanu Nega announced.

This was announced during a signing ceremony of key activities for the 2018 academic year with public universities.

Professor Berhanu Nega stated that in the coming years, the Ministry of Education will stop assigning students and students who score a passing score will be allowed to apply to the universities and fields of study they desire.

"University education will no longer be based on the Ministry of Education's allocation as before, but on the students' choice," he said.

"Students should be rational when choosing a university and choose which university will provide them with the best academic field, knowledge, and job opportunities," he added.

He also stated that this helps students to be diligent and achieve results.
