UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said his country will not relax visa rules for Indians.

Speaking ahead of his visit to India, Starmer said there was "huge opportunity" to boost trade and cultural ties between the two countries.

The Prime Minister is travelling to India with a delegation of more than 100 people, including business leaders, cultural leaders and university vice-chancellors.

The aim of the trip is said to be to boost UK investment and boost the country's sluggish economic growth.

Starmer said there were no plans to further ease visa restrictions for UK students or workers.

The agreement was signed in July last year after years of negotiations between the UK and India.

Following this agreement, it will be cheaper to export UK whisky and cars to India, and Indian textiles and jewellery will also be cheaper to import into the UK.

This is expected to boost business by facilitating billions of pounds of trade between the two countries.
