S&P Global has completed its acquisition of datacenterHawk, strengthening its ability to provide intelligence linking data centre capacity with power grids, fibre networks and the rapidly expanding infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence.

datacenterHawk, which provides asset-level intelligence on global data centre and fibre infrastructure markets, will become part of S&P Global Energy. Its data on data centre supply, demand, pricing, development pipelines and site selection will be combined with S&P Global Energy’s coverage of global power markets and S&P Global’s 451 Research technology intelligence.

The combined platform is designed to give investors, developers and other infrastructure customers a more integrated view of the physical systems required to support growing demand for computing capacity.

The acquisition brings datacenterHawk’s FiberLocator platform into the S&P Global Energy business, adding detailed information on fibre connectivity to data on data centre assets and emerging capacity.

S&P Global said the combined offering will provide real-time intelligence for investment decisions, site selection and strategic planning as demand for data centre infrastructure grows alongside the expansion of AI.

“AI is transforming the physical infrastructure and energy systems that underpin the global economy,” said Dave Ernsberger, president of S&P Global Energy. He said combining datacenterHawk’s asset-level data with S&P Global Energy’s power-market forecasts and 451 Research insights would give customers a more comprehensive view of the relationship between data centres, electricity, computing capacity and connectivity.

The transaction was first announced in July 2026 and expands S&P Global Energy’s presence across markets where data centre development is increasingly tied to the availability of power, grid infrastructure and telecommunications connectivity.
