Telkom SA SOC Ltd raised shareholder returns and posted stronger annual profitability after gains across mobile data, fibre services and improved operational efficiency lifted its performance for the financial year ended March 31.

Headline earnings per share climbed 30.1 percent to 708.5 cents from 544.5 cents a year earlier, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation increased 13.3 percent to 12.5 billion rand.

The company declared a final dividend of 270 cents per share, a 65 percent increase from the previous year, and lifted its dividend payout target to between 40 percent and 60 percent of free cash flow.

Group revenue rose 1.4 percent to 44.5 billion rand, with growth supported by expansion in connectivity demand across both consumer and enterprise markets.

Mobile performance was a key contributor to the results, with prepaid service revenue rising 10.3 percent and overall mobile service revenue increasing 6.8 percent as data consumption expanded across users.

Fibre-related services also supported earnings growth, with revenue from fibre data rising 6.3 percent as demand for high-speed connectivity continued to grow.
