Ethiopia will host a series of high-level investment and cultural events this September as part of South Africa’s G20 International Outreach programme, aimed at strengthening private sector engagement across the continent.
The month-long initiative, centred at the Kuriftu African Village Resort, will bring together more than 300 delegates from African Union diplomatic missions and private sector actors. South Africa’s National Day Celebration, a highlight of the programme, will showcase cultural and culinary traditions while providing a platform to promote investment and tourism opportunities.
A key pillar of the outreach is the Compact with Africa (CwA), co-chaired by South Africa and Germany. First launched in 2017, the compact is designed to enhance macroeconomic and business frameworks across Africa, making countries more attractive to foreign investors. Currently involving 14 African nations, the initiative has already drawn significant international interest.
Officials said the forthcoming CwA 2.0 phase, running from 2025 to 2028, will accelerate reform momentum and stimulate infrastructure-led growth. In a symbolic demonstration of bilateral ties, the South African Room will be inaugurated at the Kuriftu Resorts Lodge, cementing the country’s presence in Ethiopia and reinforcing broader diplomatic and economic links.
