In an interview with Al Arabiya TV, the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, said that Ethiopia supports its right to seek and obtain access to the sea through peaceful and diplomatic means.

The president added, "Ethiopia's interest in the sea gate is not new in the framework of international law. There are recognised methods and procedures that any country can use to protect its interests as long as it respects international laws and regional agreements."

President Hassan Sheikh Mohammed said that Somalia believes that Ethiopia can achieve its goals if it follows these legal ways through a peaceful and diplomatic approach.
