Saudi Arabia executed 347 people in 2025, marking the highest annual total in two years, according to UK-based human rights group Reprieve. The majority of executions—345—were reported in Amman.

Reprieve described 2025 as “a year of record executions,” noting that two Pakistanis were recently executed on drug charges, alongside a journalist, five women, and two young men who were minors at the time of their alleged offenses.

The group said roughly two-thirds of those sentenced to death were convicted of minor drug-related crimes. Half of those executed under the kingdom’s so-called anti-drug campaign were non-Saudi citizens.

The United Nations criticised the executions, saying they were “contrary to international principles and practices.” Saudi authorities have not publicly detailed their methods, though executions are believed to be carried out by hanging or firing squad.
