Saudi Arabia and Kenya have agreed to deepen political and economic cooperation following the inaugural session of their Political Consultations Committee, held in Riyadh and co-chaired by senior officials from both countries.

The meeting was led by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, focusing on expanding bilateral relations and strengthening coordination on regional security and stability.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides signed four agreements covering investment, customs cooperation, export finance, and labour mobility, marking a broad-based framework for economic engagement between the two countries.

The agreements include a deal to encourage direct investment signed between Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment and the Kenyan delegation, as well as a customs cooperation arrangement signed by the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and Kenyan officials.

A third agreement was concluded between the Saudi Export-Import Bank and the Kenya Development Corporation, aimed at enhancing financial cooperation and trade facilitation between the two institutions.

Separately, both governments signed an accord on the recruitment and employment of Kenyan workers, reflecting ongoing labour cooperation between Riyadh and Nairobi.

The consultations were attended by senior Saudi foreign ministry officials, including the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Ambassador to Kenya, alongside representatives from relevant government departments.

Officials said the newly established consultation mechanism is intended to provide a structured platform for dialogue, policy coordination and the expansion of economic ties between the two countries.
