The South African government has objected to the US decision to prioritize asylum applications from white Africans, saying that allegations of genocide against white South Africans are widely denied and lack credible evidence.

The South African government has cited an official letter written by prominent Afrikaner community leaders rejecting the genocide narrative.

Some of the signatories to the letter have described South Africa's plan to relocate whites as racist.

The letter added that the small number of whites applying to immigrate to America was an indication that Africans were not being persecuted.

President Donald Trump's administration announced on Thursday that it would cap the number of refugees the United States can accept each year at 7,500.

This number is significantly lower than the previous annual limit. The annual refugee cap set by former President Joe Biden was 125,000.

It is unclear how many white South Africans have had their asylum applications approved under the new US system so far.
