Kenyan President William Ruto has been announced as the “chief guest” at the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which he described as “a milestone for Africa’s self-reliance and Ethiopia’s future.”
In a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson's Office, the President announced that he will attend the inauguration ceremony of the dam.
The Kenyan presidency has highlighted the regional significance of the Renaissance Dam, saying the power transmission line between Ethiopia and Kenya will “provide clean and affordable electricity, strengthen energy security, stabilize supply during droughts, and support industrial growth.”
It also explained that this project, together with the Kenya-Tanzania transmission line, will enhance East African integration through shared renewable energy.
