Russia has praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s newly released security strategy, describing it as “in many ways consistent” with Moscow’s own perspective.

The Trump administration unveiled a 33-page document last week that outlines its global security priorities, including an analysis of Europe’s challenges, which it frames as a “civilizational collapse.” Notably, the strategy does not list Russia as a threat to the United States.

Several European Union officials and analysts have raised concerns over the document’s emphasis on freedom of expression, noting that its language bears similarities to rhetoric commonly used by the Russian government.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the state news agency TASS that the strategy represented a positive step. “The adjustments we are considering... in many ways correspond to our vision,” he said. He added that Moscow would continue reviewing the document before forming a definitive assessment.

Observers have noted that the Trump administration’s strategy employs softer language toward Russia, a stance that has drawn scrutiny from EU officials who are working to end the war in Ukraine. Analysts warn that a lenient approach could undermine Washington’s leverage in addressing Moscow’s actions.
