Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said his country had no intention of attacking the European Union or NATO member states.

However, the minister warned that any "attack" against Moscow would be met with a "decisive response."

The minister said in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday that Western threats against Russia were "increasing and becoming more common."

Lavrov referred to Israel in his speech and said that while Russia condemned Hamas' attack, its "brutal killings" against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza "have no justification."

But Israel says its campaign in Gaza is to defeat Hamas.

Hamas' health minister said at least 65,926 people have been killed since Israel began its military campaign in Gaza.

Lavrov also criticized Israel's attacks on other countries in the Middle East.

Israel describes its airstrikes on Qatar and other Middle Eastern countries as "part of a campaign to destroy Hamas."
