Ministry of Revenues is piloting a technology‑based platform designed to receive tips and complaints to prevent malpractice and corruption across the revenue sector.

Dejene Desta, director of institutional risk management and ethics at the ministry, said the system will enable taxpayers to submit evidence‑based complaints at a national level. He described the platform as a reliable mechanism for monitoring irregular practices and improving sector accountability.

The platform is intended to complement existing reporting channels, including voice calls, written submissions and in‑person communications. Officials said the digital system is expected to increase both the number and efficiency of tips and complaints submitted.

The technology will allow coordinated monitoring of alleged corruption and malpractice cases across federal and regional levels, enabling timely follow‑up and corrective measures.

The system has been developed by the ministry’s Information and Technology Directorate. During a demonstration, Software Team Coordinator Tariku Zerfu and software developer Haftu Girma presented the platform’s operational structure and key features.

Attendees included officials responsible for risk management from the Ministry of Revenues and the Customs Commission headquarters and branch offices, as well as representatives from regional revenue bureaus.
