A retired Nigerian television broadcaster and former Ogun State Television (OGTV) staff member, Kitan Oyesiku, has been killed at her residence in Abeokuta alongside her security guard, police said.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Oyesiku’s home in the Kobape area of Abeokuta after unknown assailants allegedly entered the property.

Police officers responding to the report found the security guard’s body at the security post before discovering Oyesiku’s body inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also reported missing from the residence.

The Ogun State Police Command said a preliminary assessment of the scene showed signs of forced entry and disturbance, prompting detectives to begin an investigation.

Oluseyi Babaseyi, police spokesperson in Ogun State, said the command had launched a comprehensive probe and that the Commissioner of Police had ordered efforts to identify and arrest those responsible.

“An intensive investigation is ongoing to unravel the facts, track down and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act, while ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice,” Babaseyi said, according to Daily Trust.

Police said surveillance and intelligence operations had been expanded across relevant locations as part of the investigation. The command urged residents to remain calm and share any information that could assist authorities.

The police expressed condolences to Oyesiku’s family, the OGTV community and Nigeria’s media industry following the deaths.
